“Fred and I attended AIT (Advanced Training) US Army together at Fort Gordon, Georgia. We became best friends. After our training we were sent to Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. They sent Fred north and I was sent west to the mountains. We managed to keep in touch over the many years and I had the pleasure of visiting with Fred and Brenda and his fine family this past summer. Over the many years I have made many friends, but Fred will always have a special place in my heart. Franklin Hughes”
