It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Paul William Merkel III (Parkersburg, West Virginia), who passed away on May 21, 2024, at the age of 37, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Sharren C. Morris, Marie Morris, Paul W. Merkel Sr. and Jean Merkel; his uncles, Robert Morris and Tom Merkel; and his pet Savannah.

He is survived by: his father Paul W. Merkel Jr. (Parkersburg); his son Jacob Paul Merkel; his brother Jacob Smith (Angela); his stepsiblings, Brock Guthrie (Brooke) and Jennifer Wessel; his niece Jessica Smith; and his nephews, Brenden and Camden Smith. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
