He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph W. Lane and Arlie Harold Lane; and his siblings, James Lane, Larry 'Bud Lane, Ronnie Lane, Michael Lane, Paul Lane, Denzil Lane and Jean Sears.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Jean Lane; his children, Steve Lane (Becky) of Mt. Gilead, NC, Russ Lane (Dawn) of Leland, NC, Mitch Lane (Alician) of Leland, NC and Jodi Sutro (Timothy) of Orma, WV; his grandchildren, Zachary Lane (Donna), Alexandria Snider (Ryan), Austin Lane (Racheal), Timothy Sutro, Kelsey Lane, Matt Lane, Taylor Lane, Logan Lane and Samantha Rautenstrauch (Tristan); his great grandchildren, Samuel Snider, Slate Lane, Jackson Snider, Briar Lane and James Micheal Rautenstrauch; and his siblings, Charles Lane (Delores), Everett Lane, Nancy Stemple (Bill), Ruth Morgan and Brenda Davison. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
