He was predeceased by: his parents, Ocie Arnold Leatherman and Martha Elizabeth Affleck Leatherman; and his siblings, Ava M. Aylor, Virginia L. Garrett, Neva E. Poling, Mary E. Walters, Elda Painter and Carl L. Leatherman.
He is survived by: his brother Harlan A. Leatherman; his wife Frances Louise Turley Leatherman; and his children, Paula Kesner (Loy) of Moorefield, WV, Debbie Snyder (Earl) of Petersburg, WV, Q. R. Leatherman (Kimberly Maiden) of Clements, MD and Bryan Leatherman (Sheri) of Moorefield, WV. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
