He was predeceased by: his father Alex Gilkey; and his siblings, Alex Gilkey Jr., Alfred "Sonny" Gilkey, Deloris Gilkey and Rosalie Weddeburn.
He is survived by: his children, Jacqueline Gilkey Hendricks (Matthew) of Fayetteville, Cheryl Gilkey of Fayetteville, Candy Gilkey (Mark), Randy Gilkey (Chrissy) and Israel Gilkey of Oak Hill; and his grandchildren, Josh, Lyndsey, Elijah, Peyton, Caleb, Eden, Chase and Jonathan Cantley. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
