With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis Rayburn Compton (Oak Hill, West Virginia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 11, 2024 at the age of 85. He was predeceased by: his parents, James I. Compton and Gertie Adkins Compton; and his siblings, Jackie, Alton, Aldon, Harland, Loredia Garten and Karen Vass.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his children, Scott of Salem, Virginia and Sherry Shumaker (Charlie) of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Hunter Shumaker (Nickie), Matthew Compton, Brandon Compton (Dixie), Courtney Thompson (Chris) and Katie Shearer (Jason); his great grandchildren, Nataley, Delaney, Beniah, Alaina, Laney, Wesson, Nick, Kenna and Carson; and his siblings, Darrell Compton (Debbie) of Oak Hill, Donna Stafford of Fayetteville, Magalene Stevens of Kent, Ella Blake of Oak Hill and Grace Bevins of Oak Hill. He is also survived by many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
