He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Lee Murphy, Sr. and Evelyn Murphy; the mother of his children Diana Murphy; his brother Dennis Murphy; and his niece Lori Hamby.
He is survived by: his children, James Murphy of Beckley, Tracy Murphy (Amanda) of Huntersville, NC, Stacey Nutter (James) of Oak Hill, Lee Ann Elkins of Oak Hill and Chassity Horrocks (David) of Fayetteville; his close friend Macie Belle; and his siblings, Kathy Coomer, James Denvil Murphy and Timmy Murphy. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
