He was predeceased by: his parents, Loretha Smith (McKinney) and Jennings Smith; his brothers, Harold and Ralph Smith; and his grandchildren, Stacey Nicole Mickles, Sarah, Brooklyn Pettry and Christopher Allen Hayes.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Smith; his children, Vicki Smith, April Smith (Robert Williams), Misty Dangerfield (James Dangerfield), Bruce Treadway (Melba Walker) and James Giles (April Giles); his siblings, Stanley "Wayne" Smith, Frances Pauley (Robert), Ruth Proskin and Alveda Powell; his grandchildren, Nicole Williams, Brianna, Janiya Smith, Shyanne, Jaelyn Walker, Landon Treadway, Corey, Cameron Smith, Jason, Julian, Mackenzie and James Jr. Giles; his stepdaughter Tonya Burns (Sam Burns); and his stepgrandchild Angel O'Dell. He is also survived by her four children.
