He is survived by: his wife Angel Ruth Bowen (Evans) of North Matewan, WV; his children, Mike Bowen (Serena), Bobby Bowen (Helen), CJ Bowen, Dennis Toops of Columbus, OH, Dalton Toops of Delbarton, WV, Kelly Melnick (Robby) and Kara Browning (Justin) of Sevierville, TN; his siblings, Donny Bowen of Williamson, WV and Abigal Howard; his grandchildren, Mason, Hudson, Tucker Bowen, Madelyn, Kaylin Melnick, Miles Bowen, Natty, Jerri-Ann, Jason, Andy Toops, Nelli and Ivy Browning; and his close friends, Margaret Farley, Ray Goad of Matewan, Oliver "Buddy" Harris, Jeremiah Sloan and Judy Spence. He is also survived by family members and friends.
