He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Bertschy and Goldie Brobeck Bertschy; his former wife Lillian Dietz; his daughter Candace; and his brothers, James Bertschy and Harold Steinberg.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his children, Steven Bertschy and Kimberly Bertschy; his stepchildren, Thomas Springer, Kelly Tabor and Barry Thaler; and his sisters, Bonnie Wentworth, Sue Bruno and Sally Hotchkiss. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
