He was predeceased by: the mother of his children Mary Giles Phillips; his parents, Russell Phillips and Marjorie Phillips; his siblings, Erca Wrightson (Frank), Anna Mae Doolittle (Bob), Frankie Sayre (Don), Golden (Betty), Rolland (June) and John; his siblings-in-law, John Giles (Nelda), Carol Barker and Sally Giles; his son-in-law Rich Ellington; and his stepson-in-law Rich Bennett.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Tyson Phillips; his children, Scott (Martha Phillips) and Sue Ellington; his brother Steve Phillips (Jackie); his brothers-in-law, Robert Giles and Bobby Barker; his stepchildren, Jayne Hanstine (Tom) and Jay Westfall (Cokie); his grandsons, Ian Ellington, Carter Phillips, Andy Ellington (Ciearra) and Garrett Phillips; and his stepgrandchildren, LeeAnn Bennett, Katelyn Daniel (Jason), Alex Moran (Joe) and Scott Bennett (Christine). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and step great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice Care of Kanawha Valley, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W., Charleston, WV 25387.
