He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Benjamin Lewis and Mary Cobb Lewis; his former wife Patricia Kinsella Lewis; his siblings, Otis Lewis, Gerard Lewis and Evelyn Lewis; and his son-in-law Mark Tidwell.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn "Joyce" Hutzel Lewis; his children, Gerri Johnson (Mark) of Martinsburg, Jerome Lewis (Susie) of Greer, SC, Teresa Cox (Doug) of Beckley, Betty Clark (Lewis) of Ann Arbor, MI and Lauralee Tidwell of Acworth, GA; and his brothers, John Lewis of Sarasota, FL and Clifford Reithmiller of Miami, FL.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
