He was predeceased by: his parents, Hollie Totten and Dorothy Totten; his wife Alma; and his siblings, Edward Walker, William Totten, Ruth Russell, Mary Nolley, Okey Totten of Clay and Donald "Butch" Walker of Florida.
He is survived by: his sons, James H. Totten, Jr. (Laura) of Nitro and Steven Totten (Brenda) of Nitro; his sisters, Letha Brown of Charleston and Betty Ratliff of Goldtown; his grandchildren, Erica Totten, Jimmy Totten III (Melinda), Tristen Totten, Evan Hornbeck and Dakota Hornbeck; and his great grandchildren, Scarlett and Samuel Totten.
