He was predeceased by: his parents, Custer Holmes and Lula Holmes; his wife Rebecca Ellawe Holmes; and his siblings, Margaret Rabel, Josephine Hillenbrand, Mary Phares, Gladys Holland, Ralph "Red" Holmes, Kenneth "Pops" Holmes and Emery Holmes.
He is survived by: his son Gary Holmes (Carol); his grandchildren, Scott Holmes and Jeremy Holmes; and his great grandchildren, Jacob Scott Holmes and Emma Lue Holmes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
