He was predeceased by: his parents, Mildred Irene Lawson and Ernest Cleveland Lawson; and his siblings, Ruth Faye Hartwell (Claude), Ora Jean Holt, Della Moles (Carl), Robert Lawson (Pam), James R. Lawson and Kenneth J. Lawson.
He is survived by: his wife Kitty A. Johnson Lawson; his children, Sharon Newsome (Terry) and James E. Lawson (Renita); his grandchildren, Corrie, Cody Newsome, Nautcee Jayla and Ayanna Brown; and his siblings, Lola Mace (Melvin) and Oscar Lawson (Linda).
