He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Crintinton Adkins and Flossie Mills; his wife Carla Hope Adkins; his siblings, Virgalena, Erma Gene and Arnold Adkins; his brothers-in-law, Clarence Rutherford and Fred Mills; and his close friend Gloria Belle Roush.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Swisher (Michael) of Mason, WV and Carl Vernon Adkins (Kimberly Dawn) of Wayne, WV; his siblings, Hazel Mills of Wayne, WV, Velma Rutherford of Wayne, WV and Renick Adkins (Betty) of Parsons, WV; and his grandchildren, John Adkins (Marissa), Christopher Adkins (Emily), Carli Aldena Adkins, Maggie Swisher and Bryleigh Swisher. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
