Dennis Bond Obituary
Dennis Lynn Bond, age 67, a resident of Laurel Park passed away on February 1, 2024, at his home. He will be profoundly missed by his large, close-knit family, legions of friends, and zero strangers because never met one.
Denny was born on September 12, 1956, in Clarksburg to Walter Lee and Betty (Connolly) Bond, who undoubtedly were there to welcome him to heaven.
On July 30, 1977, he married the love of his life, Melissa "Kim" Gaston, and together they raised three daughters, all who survive: Nichole Amber (Henry) Bender, Tiffany Jo Lynn (Greg) Hoskins, and Brittany Lorena (Tristan) Jenkins. Also surviving are eleven heartbroken grandchildren, Cameron and Jacob Webber, Jayden and Maya Bender, Grant, Gabriel, and Gatlin Hoskins, Reagan, Abram, and Macy Jenkins, and Kingston. They were the absolute lights of his life, of whom he was very proud. He was the outstanding big brother to James Bryan (Leslie) Bond, Glen Russel (Paula) Bond, and Melanie Bond (Allan) Meck; he was a beloved Uncle Denny to many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bond graduated from South Harrison High School with the class of 1974, and he graduated from Salem College with a bachelor's degree in business management in 1978, and enjoyed a long career in accounting, retiring from Dominion Transmission. He was a lifelong member of the Lost Creek Seventh day Baptist Church, where he served many years as a Deacon and Trustee. Denny was a member of the board of directors of Camp Joy in Berea, WV., where he served as counselor, bringing in young people to Christ through worship and baptism. He was instrumental in improving the camp facilities and making every preparation needed to ensure it was ready for the children. While in high school, he became a volunteer firefighter, serving departments in Lost Creek and West Milford. As newlyweds and before the babies came, Denny and Kim made fire calls together. After retiring, he filled his days raising cattle, mowing grass for neighbors, and helping anyone who needed a helping hand in anyway. he and Kim were enthusiastic breeders of Shih Tzu puppies that were lovingly delivered to families all over the country.
Denny was the happiest when surrounded by and engaging with family. An avid player of card games and dominos. He was the reason that the family had to switch from metal to plastic spoons after a particularly rambunctious game of Spoons left him with a broken finger on his calculator hand. He enjoyed his family, and they enjoyed him, whether it was playing games, sitting around a campfire at Big Bear Lake, or being all in family construction and repair projects that were completed throughout the years. There is a lot of his sweat on the rooftops and properties of those he helped. There wasn't much Denny didn't know how to do, thanks largely to the time he spent working his way through school under the tutelage of a fellow church member and professor. Denny paid it forward and was generous with his time and know how. He was the first to show up with a helping hand, tools, equipment, and his ever-present glass of sweet tea with extra ice.
A life well-lived extends a helping hand to others, and Denny's family invites you to join in a celebration of his well-lived life on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church, 29 Metz Lane, Mount Clare, WV 26385. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Flora Hills Cemetery near Quiet Dell. The Kittle Family Funeral Home of Philippi is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
