With solemn reverence, we commemorate Don Van Scyoc of Moundsville, West Virginia, whose life came to an end on December 29, 2024 at the age of 81, leaving behind cherished memories. Though Don Van may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Don Van touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Scyoc and Ruth Van Scyoc (Norris); and his brothers, Riley Van Scyoc and David Van Scyoc. He is survived by: his wife Judith Ann Van Scyoc (Pettit); his children, Gerald Van Scyoc of Steubenville, OH and Donna Frey (John) of Moundsville, WV; his siblings, Betty Carrington of Moundsville, WV and Roger Van Scyoc of Fish Creek, WV; and his brother-in-law Harold Pettit of Naples, FL. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Moundsville Care Chapel (1500 2nd St, Moundsville, WV 26041). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Riverview Cemetery (1854 Round Btm Hl Rd, Moundsville, WV 26041).
