He was predeceased by: his sisters, Diane Jones, Wilda Lee of Wheeling, WV and Lucille Keener of Reedsville, WV.; and his parents, Lawrence McDonald and Grace Shaw McDonald.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Mayfield McDonald; his children, Shawnda McDonald (Matthew Titus) and Chad McDonald of Morgantown; and his grandchildren, Ashland Prentice (Bryan) of Houston, TX, Tyler Robertson of Washington, DC, Mason McDonald of Morgantown and Wyatt McDonald. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Cheat Lake Community Church (527 Tyrone Rd, Morgantown, WV 26508). A memorial service was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
