He was predeceased by: his parents, Opie Thompson and Evalina Thompson (Lawrence); and his siblings, Hansel "Saul" Thompson, David Lee Thompson, Sr., Katherine Reel and Virginia Burns.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Thompson (Vance); his children, Ashley Thompson (Trevor Wolfe) of Franklin, WV, Johnny Thompson (Melissa) of Moorefield, WV and Dewayne Thompson (Ida) of Moorefield, WV; and his brother Clyde "Bob" Thompson of Harman, WV. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.
