James McDaniel Obituary
James (Jim) Howard McDaniel Sr. of Moatsville departed this life on Sunday, July 16, 2023, following a short illness at his home while surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born February 5, 1939, to Howard and Laura (Calhoun) McDaniel of Philippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Lucielle and her husband Estle Phillips, Lena and her husband, Stanley Valek, Louise and her husband Howard Mouser, Luetta and her husband Vincent Pellegrin, Vonda and her husband Bud Lantz, and Dorthie; his brothers Bud and his wife Mary Jo McDaniel, Kenny and his wife Ruth McDaniel, Hoover McDaniel, Harold, Donald, and Scottie McDaniel; and his first-born child James Howard Jr.
Jim is survived by his caring wife, the former Judy Robinson, in which the couple was married on September 23, 1961, and his three children Timothy and wife Sara McDaniel, Roger and wife Angela McDaniel, and Cindy and husband Kevin Heape. He is also survived by his sister, Dot and husband Ed Nelsen, and his brothers Bill and wife Annette McDaniel, Philip and wife Diane McDaniel, and Ira late wife Nancy McDaniel. James has eight grandchildren, Allyson and Dakoda Bouverette, Corrine, Shannon, Ben, Ryan, James, Matthew McDaniel, and Wylie Heape. His Yorkie, Roxie.
James attended the schools of Barbour County; he was a security officer at AB College for several years where he retired. He loved watching the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. Jim loved reading the local papers and the first section he would read was the sports section. He had a passion for gardening, farming, and his animals. Jim loved spending time with his family and most of all his grandchildren they made his eyes sparkle. He is going to be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Family and friends will gather at the Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave. Philippi, WV., on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 6 pm until 8 pm., again on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 9:00 am until 1 pm when a funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Wade McGee officiating. Jim's wishes for cremation will be honored. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Tacy Community building or to Ira McDaniel for the Olive Hill Cemetery.
