He was predeceased by: his parents, Norris "Red" Smith and Elizabeth C. Smith (Johnston); and his siblings, Billy Smith (Nancy) and Gloria Adams (Joe). He is survived by: his daughter Emily R. Goodpaster (Joey); his stepson George Myers; his grandson Easton G. Goodpaster; and his siblings, Alice Smith, Larry Smith (Paulla) and Sam Smith (Marcy).
Jim had wishes set in place to be a Donation of Life to Marshall University School of Medicine.
