He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Lou Atkinson and Franklin Atkinson; his grandparents, Sidney, Myrtle Pauley, Robert and Cora Atkinson; and his nephew Kristopher Sharp.
He is survived by: his wife Melanie Hickman Atkinson; his daughters, Amy (Josh Potter) and Kelsey (Josh Stalnaker); his grandchildren, Aaron Jack, Norah Elizabeth Potter and Ava Ann Stalnaker; his sisters, Jennifer (Joe Sharp) and Jan (Tom Winnell); and his nieces and nephews, Torin Samples, Tyler Samples, Katie Feola and Karie Boggs.
