He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Pearl Jones and Gilbert Earl Smith Sr.; his wife Orlis J. Smith; his brothers, Thomas Edward "Tink" Smith and John F. Smith; and his granddaughter Michelle Riggs.
He is survived by: his son Charles Riggs (Gladys) of Metz; his grandson Brandon Riggs (Sarah) of Fairmont; his siblings, Gary Smith (Wilda) of Smithfield, Gilbert Earl Jr. of Mannington and Bonnie Bowers (Roy) of Shinnston; and his close friends, Diane Strosnider, Danny Gooch (Joanne) and Rick Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hutson Funeral Home (500 E Main St, Mannington, WV 26582). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 at 1:00 PM.
