Charles Hayes Redman Obituary
Charles Hayes Redman, 50, of 22 Pearl Street, Piedmont, W.Va., and formerly of Petersburg, W.Va., died Thursday, March 12, 1953, due to the results of an automobile accident in Maysville, W.Va.
Born on July 11, 1902, in Petersburg, he was a son of Arch B. Redman, of Petersburg, and the late Anna Elizabeth (Reel) Redman. In addition to his mother he also was preceded in death by his wife, Ennis M. (Beckwith) Redman, in 1936; one infant son; three brothers, Holmes Redman, Page Redman and Emmitt Redman, and two sisters, Jennie Redman and Lena Redman.
Death was a result of a broken neck and crushed skull. The accident, according to Cpl. F. H. Tribett, of The West Virginia State Police, occurred about 5:30 p.m. when the victim failed to negotiate a curve, after the truck apparently got out of control. Redman's panel truck ran off the right of the wet highway into an embankment, swerved back on the road and turned over on the left side pinning Redman under the door and roof. Mr. Redman did carpentry and plumbing work and was reported to have been on his way to visit his father who was ill. He had resided in Piedmont for the past six years.
Surviving in addition to his father are four sisters, Cora Redman, Carrie Redman and Anna Redman all of Petersburg, and Grace Groves, of Hubbard, Ohio, and three brothers, William Redman and Olie Redman, both of Petersburg, and John Redman, of Ridgeley.
The body is at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
The body will be taken to the Redman Cemetery in Petersburg on Town Hill to be laid to rest.
