He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Ted and Gracie Shoemaker May; and his siblings, Donnie Glen May, Garland Lee May, Harlen Lee May and Nina Jean See.
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Lynn May of Moorefield, WV and John Edward May, Jr. of Mathias, WV; and his siblings, Jimmy May of Old Fields, WV, Ellen Ruth Lloyd of Mathias, WV, Edna Ann Dispanet of Timberville, Janice Arlene Fulk of Sandyville, WV, Deloris Marie Miller of Broadway and Kathryn Fern Combs of Broadway.
