We are sad to announce that on December 24, 2020, at the age of 88, Jerry Akers Sr. of Matewan, West Virginia, born in Lobata, West Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Akers, Sr. and Estella Sue Akers; his wife Lula Sullivan Akers; his siblings, Jack, Freddie, Andy, Leonard, Jr., Dorie and Geraldine; and his half-sister Joann Akers.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Bruce E. Akers (Rhonda) of Fayetteville, NC, Jerry, Jr. Akers (Kimberly) of Williamson, WV and Sonya Hackney (Gary Hackney); his grandchildren, Tracey Michelle Akers, Staci Moore (Brandon), Erica Meillier (Matt), Heather Akers, Megan Hackney and Isaiah Hackney; his great grandchildren, Grayson Day, Harper Moore and Zoey Moore; his brother Claude Akers; his half-siblings, James, Blanche McClellan (Willis) and Brenda Akers; and his brother Paul Akers.
