He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Russell and Irene Russell (Barron); and his grandson Brian Raughn Russell. He is survived by: his wife Ozalene Wilda Russell (Basore); his brother Calvin Russell; his sons, Alvin Vaughn Russell (Kathy) and Ralvin Raughn Russell (Diane); and his son-in-law Max Moore. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three bonus grandsons.
