He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Porter and Sylvia Mae Slack Porter; and his great grandchild Airis Cruz. He is survived by: his wife Martha Ann Copley Porter of Marmet; his children, Traci Porter (Cindy) of Cross Lanes, Tabatha Adams of Georgia, Trisha Justice of Yawkey and Johnny Adams, Jr. (Annie) of Columbus, OH; his grandchildren, Jazmin Cruze of Washington State, Celeste Gibson of Utah, William Gibson of Georgia, Mari-Jane Pritt, Ethan Levine, Ryder, Terria, Paula Ann, J. R. Justice of Lincoln Co and Bobbi Jo Bowles of Glasgow; and his siblings, Janet Green (Jerry) of Chelyan and Gary Porter (Connie) of Duck.
