He was predeceased by: his wife Betty J. Smith; his son James R. "Gondi" Smith; his parents, Alfred Smith and Genevieve Javins Smith; and his siblings, Emmitt, Roy, Timothy Smith, Anna M. Pauley and Effie Mullins.
He is survived by: his daughters, Marietta Lynn Maloskey (Ronnie), Jennifer Copeland (Sheldon) and Christine Smith; and his siblings, Lester Smith (Mary) of Ridgeview, Sue Morris (Troy) of Ashford and Deloris McCormick (Peachy) of Ashford. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
