He was predeceased by: his wife Janet Snodgrass May; his daughter Jennifer Lynn May; his parents, Francis P. May and Helen Ewart May; his parents-in-law, William "Jay" Snodgrass and Verna Lafferty Snodgrass; and his siblings-in-law, Lynn Herbert and Alberta Ma.

He is survived by: his children, Gary (Lisa May), Pamela May (Todd Shaver), Daniel May (Vicki Crouso) and Paula Layman of Morgantown; his grandchildren, Odessa Carpenter, Billy Kellar, Ryan, Sheena May, Logan Merrifield, Mariah, Alex Barger, Emily May and Joslyn Layman; his great grandchildren, Orion Long, Macy May, Salem Kellar and Trent May; and his siblings, Edward (Sally May), Hubert (Lola May), James May, Peggy (John Schnepp), Betty (Gary Studenic), Loa (Mike Ztanze), John (Mary May), Richard (Susan May) and Wayne (Jeanne May). He is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces.
