Gerald Charles Snider Obituary
Gerald Charles Snider, age 86 of Mannington, WV passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at his residence. He was born June 4, 1935 in Philippi, Barbour Co., WV, a son of the late Verl Snider and Mildred Dadisman Snider. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy June Heatherly Snider; four children, Larry David (Lisa) Snider of Mannington, Charles (Sharon) Snider of Glovers Gap, Steven (Linda) Snider of Morgantown, and Melissa (Martin) Keener of Mannington; 7 grandchildren, Jonathan (Lydia) Pacetti, Jesse Suplee, Desiree Satterfield, Zachary Snider, Christina Snider, Megan Keener and Mark Keener; 5 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Aleah, Shiloh, Riley and Kaleb; one brother, Rodney Snider of Philippi; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by one son, Mark Alan Snider; three brothers, Roy, Russell and Ronald Snider; and a sister, Marceile Finley. Gerald was a Veteran of the United States Navy and had retired from the Army Reserves. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion as well as the Mannington Elks Lodge #388 where he previously served as an Exalted Ruler.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was employed and retired from First Exchange Bank in Mannington and also the Mannington Home Center. The family would like to wish a special Thank You to WVU Hospice nurses and staff for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gerald's name to St. Jude's Hospital. Gerald's desire was for cremation as his final method of disposition. There will be a private family inurnment at the Barbour Memorial Cemetery near Belington at the convenience of the family at a later date.
