He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Lee Gum Sr. and Madeline Moore Gum; his grandson Braxten Gum; his sister Judy Waugh; and his brother-in-law Wilmer Waugh.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Hibbs Gum; his children, Ashly Gum (Teddy Carnes) of Fairmont, Donald Ray Gum II (Adrianna) of Farmington, Nathan Gum of Fairmont, Misty Harkey of North Carolina and Christy Drye of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Lexie Gum, Heaven Carnes, Jacob Carnes, Gannon Gum, Carsen Gum, Madeline Gum, Braydon Gum, Major Gum and Kylie Gum; his siblings, Edward Lee Gum of Farmington, Harold Gum of Farmington, John Paul Gum (Lisa) of Farmington and Penny Kay Gum of Charleston, WV; and his uncle Danny Moore of Michigan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
