He was predeceased by: his wife Nellie Jo Kniceley Linville; his parents, Braden A. Linville and Roma E. Dunlap Linville; his siblings, Jackie A. Linville and Carole M. Stone; and his granddaughter Amanda N. Linville.
He is survived by: his sons, William J. "Joe" Linville, II (Michele) of Danville and Mark A. Linville (Mary) of Danville; his siblings, Patsy R. Linville, Stephen A. Linville (Tracy) of Danville and Terry L. Linville (Rita) of Danville; his grandchildren, Joey Linville (Donna) of Danville, Andrew Linville (Nikki) of Julian, Justin Linville (Bridget) of Louisburg, NC, Rachel Malone (Mike) of Charleston, Nathaniel Linville of Lexington, KY, Alex Parsons of Danville and Austin Parsons (Shiree) of Madison; and his siblings-in-law, Kathaleen Barker of Cleveland, OH, Annie Bickel (Robert) of Cleveland, WV and Richard King of Morgantown. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
