He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Martin and Vergie Harvell Martin; his wife Sarah Martin; and his daughter-in-law Laura Tracy Baisden. He is survived by: his son Ernest J. Martin III; his sisters-in-law, Rosemary Matthews, Julia, Kirt Gothard and Alice Jane Hainor; his brother Virgil (Carol Martin); his grandchildren, Drew Petroff, Mason, Chelcee and Ashlee McRoberts; and also, Ernest, Joe, Sara Baisden, Chad, Libby Jo Salyers, Meloney E., Greg McRoberts, Naomi Ward and Harold Ward.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ernest's honor be made to: First Christian Church We Can Program, which provides a portion of Backpack Buddies, a charity helping provide weekend food for school children of the area.
