He was predeceased by: his mother Minnie Brown; his son Eddie Joe Beard; his daughter-in-law Cheri Beard (Monday); and his sisters, Mattie Brown Sinclair (Ira), Mildred Brown McLean (John R. "Jock") and Mary "Ruth" Brown Jenkins (Lee).

He is survived by: his wife Mary Alice Beard (Scott); his children, Myola Suzanne Beard and Scott Eugene Beard (Stacey); his grandchildren, Justin Joe Beard, Alyson DeAnne Riddle (Dain), Kara Jean Holliday (Bryan), Tori JoLayne Nahouse (Christian), Norris Scott Beard, Madeline Anne Beard, Nena Loryn Adwell and James "Berkley" Adwell; his great grandchildren, Tyler Joe Beard, Raelyn Paige Beard, Jackson Dain Beard Riddle, Abel Thomas Holliday, Reagan Kate Holliday and Reed Karoline Holliday; his goddaughters, Lana Gail Guthrie (J. W.) and Whitney Whanger Smith; his niece Jane Schmidlapp (Alan, family: Sue Massey, Ann Huskins, Patty Owens, Francis Blake, Sherry Mullins, Terry Jeffries, Ira Gene "Butch" Jenkins, Mary Ann Reynolds, Vickie Janucik, James "Jimbo" Scott, Ava Knott, Teresa Toribio, Ellen Marino); his friends, Libby Jenkins Kincaid, Colton Lewis, Warren and Mary Lacey; and his family, Harry and Carolyn Riegelman (family: Jack, Eileen Steigerwald, Margaret Slocomb).
