He is survived by: his wife Lou Ella Thompson Lewis; his children, Mary Kathryn (Gonzalo Martín), Erin Elizabeth and Charles William IV (Erica); his grandchildren, Lucas and Noa Martín-Lewis; and his siblings, Dr. Constance Anderson (Donn), LeeAnn Gillilan (Clifford) and Frank Lewis (Valerie).
