He was predeceased by: his parent Daniel Matheny (Myrtle); and his siblings, Farry, Virgil Matheny, Opal Matheny, Vesta Stone and Leota Anderson.

He is survived by: his sister Sylvia Malcolm of Tennessee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
