He was predeceased by: his parent John Edward; and his siblings, Roberta Coleman, Florene Lively, Lillian Bowyer, John Chappel Jr., Herbert Chappel and Curtis Chappel.

He is survived by: his parent Gladys Edgnor Chappel; his wife Joyce Gay Taylor Chappel; his stepson Warren Watts of Huntington; and his grandchildren, Nicole and Tyrell. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
