He was predeceased by: his parents, Senator Archie Lee and Madge Morrow Reed; his siblings, Virginia Reed Lively of Walnut Creek, CA, Geraldine Reed Wolverton of Fayetteville, NC, Wallace Reed of Morgantown and Alston Lee Reed of West End, NC.; his wife Joanne Reed (Jan) of Lillybrook; and his grandchildren, Marissa Clinkinbeard and Rusty Clinkinbeard.

He is survived by: his children, Kim (Alan Clinkinbeard), Tammy (Jeff Sisler) and Stephen (Leni Reed); his grandchildren, Dr. Zachary Sisler (Delilah), Alexandra Shreve (Richard), Alicia Flett (Mark), Andy Clinkinbeard (Kate), Luis Clinkinbeard and Ethan Neil Reed; his great grandchildren, Brady, Rosalie, Vivian, Maxwell Sisler and Gabriella Wheatley; and his caregivers, Norma Costello, Esther Sanders, Melody Keller, Michelle Neff and Nancy Cooley.

Donations can be made in Neil's memory to the Preston County Sheltered Workshop and to the Wesley United Methodist Church.
