He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Denkenberger and Angela Denkenberger (Gopp); his wife Merna Denkenberger (McMillen); his sons, Thomas Matthews and Michael Steven Denkenberger; and his siblings, Joseph Denkenberger, Frank Denkenberger, Benjamin Denkenberger, Edward Denkenberger, Rosie Taylor, Tillie Post, Maggie Taylor, Marie Drainer and Martha Snyder.

He is survived by: his children, Mary Ann Thompson of Martinsburg and Robert Denkenberger (Debbie) of Kingwood; and his stepchildren, Wanda Cooke, Malinda Wilson of Arthurdale, William C. Riley, Darrell Riley (Diane), Randy Riley (Tara), Ronald Riley (Tami) and David Riley (Lisa). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
