He was predeceased by: his mother Oleda Mae Blosser Strahin; his stepfather Paul Strahin; his father Roy Gibson, Sr.; and his half-brothers, Harold and Willard Gibson.

He is survived by: his wife Martha Clara Louise Gibson (Fletcher); his children, William (Bill), Lisa Gibson of Angola, IN, Larry Gibson of Kingwood, WV, Cheryl, Billy Ringer of Winchester, VA, Michele and Chuck Barnett of Albright, WV; his sister Sue Strahin (Betty Read); his half-brother Roy Jr. (Sandi Gibson); and his grandchildren, Crystal, Chadd VanDevender of Grafton, WV, Whitney Barnett of Albright, WV, Mariah Bright of Independence, WV, Tiffany, Paul Rowan of Newburg, WV, Emily, Benjamin Stickman of Linden, VA, Aaron Ringer of Winchester, VA, Jarrett Gibson of Angola, IN, Jacob Gibson of Angola, IN and Trip Gibson of Kingwood, WV..
