He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Glenn Smith, Jr. and Martha "Ellie" Ellen Smith (Shockey); and his siblings, Dorthy Ann Reel, Linda Elizabeth Titch, Harold Glenn Smith, Robert McClure Smith and Donald Dean Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Sun; his daughter Martha Elizabeth (Andrew "A. Jay" Jay); his grandchildren, Peyton Jay, Brayden Jay and Jayden Elizabeth; and his brothers, Joseph Earnest Smith (Brenda) of Union City, PA and Blair Edward Smith of Keyser, WV. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
