He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Shumaker (Green) of Virginia and Boyd E. Shumaker; his brother Jarrett Boyd Shumaker; and his nephew Matthew Boyd Shumaker. He is survived by: his niece Lorre Kimble; his brothers, Jim Shumaker (Kay) of New Creek, WV, Jeff Shumaker (Kelly) of Keyser and Jody Shumaker (Tabitha) of Antioch, WV; his sister-in-law Susie Shumaker of Burlington, WV.; his great-nieces, Ann Marie "Missy" Shumaker and Teresa Elder (Chris); his niece-in-law Sharon Shumaker; and also, Diane Hinkle, Richard (Karly), Charlie, Christopher, Lisa Braun (Mick), James, Lorre Kimble (Joey), Grace, Ella, Jeremy Shumaker, Joel Shumaker (Michelle), Kaylee, Sophia, Hudson, Justin Shumaker (Vanessa), McKenzie, Liam, Kody Shumaker, Ava, Emmett and Jacob Shumaker.

During his final days, as he struggled with the symptoms of COVID, the staff would regularly take their breaks at his window.
