She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl O. Smith and Arzella Helen Smith (Bishop); her former husband James R. Spurling; her siblings, Oren Lee Smith and Ramona "Winnie" Hartman; and her daughter-in-law Marie Spurling.
She is survived by: her husband Baxter Ellis Ellifritz; her son David A. Spurling (Karen) of McCoole, MD; her sister Carla Nita Northcraft of Cumberland; and her grandchildren, Cynthia Smith (Raleigh), John Gordon (Brandy), Jessica Stratton (Tony), Carrie Spurling, Hannah, Carter, Emily Corbin, Keith Shoemaker (Kelly), Amanda, Jennifer Shoemaker, Jessica Liller, Jason Liller (Holly) and Alysa Metcalf.
