He was predeceased by: his mother Celinda C. "Cindy" Leatherman (Francis). He is survived by: his father Norman R. Leatherman of New Creek; his children, Lukas Ray Leatherman and Emma Marie Leatherman; his brother James N. Leatherman; his nephew Jeremiah T. Leatherman; and his niece Allison N. Leatherman.
Throughout his life, Jody made meaningful contributions to his community, leaving a positive impact on those around him.
