He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma Opal (Fleming) and James Andrew Landes; and his siblings, Betty Joann Johnson, Barbara J. Haines and James Richard "Rick" Landes.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Sue Landes (Ashby); his sons, Jeffrey Paul Landes (Susan) of Keyser and Michael Jason Landes of College Park, MD; his grandchildren, Rachael Megan Leatherman (Daniel) of Keyser and Matthew David Landes of Morgantown, WV; his great grandchild Joanna Catherine Leatherman; and his sister Deborah Moreland (Bo) of Chesapeake, VA.
