He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearl Dale (Riley) and Olin Richard Oates, Sr.; his wife Pauline May "Polly" Oates (Smith); his siblings, Olin Richard Oates, Jr., Joseph Keith Oates, Phyllis Dale Smith and Norma Beverly Lee; and his son-in-law Charles H. Hartman.
He is survived by: his daughters, Judith A. Hartman of Cumberland, MD and Julie L. Mann (John E.) of Zelienople, PA; his sisters, Carolyn Fay Riggleman and Elizabeth Sue Smith (Williford); his granddaughters, Abby J. Bennett and Tanis E Ridenour (Dustin); and his great grandchildren, Connor Maxwell Bennett, Hampton James Ridenour and Asher Jude Ridenour.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in honor of Gerald Jerome Oates to the Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 297, Keyser, WV 26726, The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 11:00am- 1:00pm.
