He was predeceased by: his parents, John Harvey and Elsie Marie Nelson (Kent); his wife Sylvia Marie Nelson (Armstrong); and his brothers, Bill and Johnny Nelson.
He is survived by: his son Gary W. Nelson, Jr. (Regina); his grandchildren, Aaron Nelson (Cierra) and Faith Edgar; his great grandchildren, Connor of Keyser, Ella of Keyser, Eli of Keyser and Cleo of Keyser; and his siblings, Russell Nelson (Diane) of Baltimore, MD, Helen Harvey (Robert) of Elk Garden, WV, Hazel Pearson of Berryville, VA and Shirley Tichnell (Joe) of Swanton, MD. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
