He was predeceased by: his parents, William Chafin and Janie Evans Chafin; his former wife Irene Jackson Chafin; his wife Fern Chafin; his siblings, Loraine, Louise, Ruth, Nora Lee, Erving, Ethel Mae, Melva, William Jennings, Harrison and Bobby Lee Chafin; his son Bobby Chafin; and his stepson Millard Porter.
He is survived by: his children, Billy Chafin Jr., Diana Christman (Paul), Nora Chafin and Sondra Grace (Chad); his grandchildren, Alex Messer and Haley Grace; and his stepchildren, Mary Davis, Crit Hall, Lottie Webb, Helen Johnson, Gail Steak and Juanita Deskins. He is also survived by many great grandchildren.
